I have always liked art from a very young age and, even though I would have liked to have taken it up as a profession, I decided I should get a “proper” job and trained to be a nurse. I have been in this profession for over 36 years.
I have also been a big animal lover and have had several dogs and horses. I have competed in obedience shows with my German Shepherd dog and also show jumping with my horses. This became an inspiration for much of my work.
I began to reconnect with my art after the death of my father and went to watercolour classes as this was something I wanted to learn more about, and continued with those classes for 4 years. I then discovered pastels and began to do pet portraits for friends and colleagues. The demand for this has encouraged me to make this a more commercial venture. I took early retirement from my nursing in 2012 to concentrate on my art. I now work in pastels and acrylics.
